Raaga Taala Retreat 2024

The Raaga Taala Retreat will run from 8th to 14th January, 2024 at Fort Chanwa, Luni, Jodhpur, in Rajasthan, India. The seven days Retreat is focused on Music/Dance and Yoga, we have Kathak and Bollywood Dance, Sitar and instrumental music, Tabla and Vocal faculty available. Participants can choose any of these faculties to learn, every morning there will be Yoga and meditation classes to start your day in a perfect way. 

Every evening there will be concerts by different artists from India and abroad and a lot of sightseeing. We will also have Desert Safari and Village safari. 

The cost for seven days of Raaga Taala Retreat is 1000 Euros/860 Pound/1070 USD for a double sharing room and 1340 Euros/1160 Pound/1435 USD for a single occupancy room. The package includes your stay at the majestic Fort Chanwa, all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), all the workshops, sightseeing, entries to monuments, Camel Safari, Jeep Safari, local transportation, airport pick up and drop.

15th January 2024 – Jodhpur – Ranakpur

JODHPUR – RANAKPUR ( 3 HOURS 30 MINUTES )

After breakfast, drive to Ranakpur.

This unit is the perfect opportunity to experience the beauty of rural Rajasthan,  next stop, Ranakpur.  Relax after arrival for some time. Then we will have lunch and proceed to the famous 15th century Jain Temple. Ranakpur temples are known for being the largest and most important temples of the Jain cult.

The temple complex is located in an isolated valley on the western side of the Aravalli Range. The Jain Temples of Ranakpur are certainly creditable for their splendid architecture. 

This temple is wholly constructed in light colored marble and comprises a basement covering an area of 48000 sq feet. There are more than 1400 exquisitely carved pillars. Morning jungle and leopard safari and jungle safari in the village in Ranakpur. Explore nature and forest and rural life of the people of Rajasthan.

16th January 2024 – RANAKPUR – KUMBHALGARH (APPROX 1 HOUR DRIVE)

After returning from the leopard safari we will depart for Kumbhalgarh which is an hour’s drive from Ranakpur. Visit to the Kumbhalgarh Fort which is one of the largest fort complexes in the whole world and the second largest fort in India, the first being the Chittorgarh Fort.The fort’s walls are so wide that eight horses can walk abreast through it.You have to cross seven massive gates before entering the fort. Each consecutive gate is narrower than the previous one. The gates were constructed in this manner so that elephants and horses can’t enter the fort beyond a certain point.

Due to its mountainous location, Kumbhalgarh was built in the Rajput military hill architectural style that makes use of the defensive properties of the terrain. The fort is built on a hilltop at a height of about 3600 feet above sea level and enveloped by a 36-km long wall with seven fortified gateways. The wall, which is listed among the longest walls in the world, is often called the Great Wall of India.

After visiting the fort we will leave for Udaipur which is approximately 2 hr 15 mins drive, night stay in Udaipur.  

17th January 2024 – Udaipur Visit 

After a leisurely breakfast, Visit the City Palace of Udaipur which is the richest palace museum in the entire Rajasthan, Also see the Peacock Square and the miniature painting school inside the palace premises. Later you can explore the interesting labyrinths around Jagdish temple at your discretion. Later visit Saheliyon ki Bari where Maharana Sangram Singh built this garden complex with fountains and lakes for his beautiful daughter. After that take a lake cruise on the placid waters of Lake Pichola by sunset and visit the island palace of Jagmandir where according to legends the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan lived and got inspired to build the Taj Mahal later.

18th 

January 2024 – Udaipur Visit 

After breakfast, drive to the temples of Eklingji which belong to the Maharana of Mewar (Royal family of Mewar) and to Nathdwara. Both the temples, of Shiva and of Vishnu, are from the 7th century. After coming back to Romantic City of Lakes – Udaipur, lunch and afternoon IS free to visit the market on your own or to rest and relax.  In the evening we will go to see and enjoy a Folk dance show at Bagore Ki Haveli, the haveli lightens and stages an enjoyable performance of traditional dances and music of Rajasthan. . 19th January 2024 – Udaipur to Chittorgarh (APPROX 2 HOUR DRIVE)

After breakfast, drive to Chittorgarh to see some of the most important historical sites of Rajasthan. Visit Chittorgarh Fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and India’s largest Fort, it’s a massive hilltop fort, which is a depiction of Rajput culture and values. The fort stands on a 240-hectares site on an 180m high hill that rises rapidly from the plains below. We will also visit Padmini Palace, the Tower of Victory, and the Tower of Fame (Kirti Stambh). Overnight stay in Chittorgarh. 

20th January 2024 – Chittorgarh -Bundi  (APPROX 2 HOUR 45 MINS DRIVE)After breakfast departure to Bundi from Chittorgarh. In one of his famous novels ‘Kim’, Kipling wrote “..But the Palace of Bundi, even in broad daylight, is such a palace as men build for themselves in uneasy dreams – the work of goblins rather than of men.” If there’s anyone who has ever described the beauty of the town or of the places to visit in Bundi perfectly, it is him. Home to classic architecture and ancient art, this town truly has the power to leave you amazed and make your Rajasthan trip more enriching.  First day we will visit :

Taragarh Fort: This majestic fort lies on a steep hill overlooking Bundi and was constructed in the year of 1354.

Raniji ki Baori: Constructed by Rani Nathavati Ji in the year of 1699, Raniji ki Baori is one of the most iconic stepwells of Bundi.

Garh Palace: Garh palace was built between the 17th and 18th century and is a collection of numerous palace complexes constructed by different rulers at different times.

Sukh Mahal: This majestic palace is located in the Sukh Sagar lake and was the summer residence of the princes. It was constructed during the reign of Umed Singh.

21st January 2024– Bundi Visit 

After breakfast we will continue our day 2 in Bundi, below are some major attractions we will visit in Bundi : 

Nawal Sagar: This lake is located in the heart of the city and has a temple of Lord Varuna in the middle of it. This lake can enchant you with some mesmerizing views especially when the Taragarh fort casts its reflection on it.

Jait Sagar Lake/Sukh Sagar: It is a lake which is 1.5 kilometres long and provides a stunning view. 

84 Pillared Cenotaph: Constructed in the year of 1683 by Rao Raja Anirudh the Maharaja of Bundi, as a memorial to his foster brother, Deva. It is a structure which has a Shivling under a roof supported by 84 pillars. 

Dhabhai Kund: Constructed in the 16th century it is known for its old geometric construction.

22nd January 2024 – Bundi – Sawai Madhopur Ranthambore National Park & Tiger Reserve (APPROX 2 HOUR 45 MINS DRIVE)

After having our breakfast in Bundi we will proceed to Ranthambore National Park today. It is a former royal hunting ground and home to tigers, leopards and marsh crocodiles. Its landmarks include the imposing 10th-century Ranthambore Fort, on a hilltop Apart from the tiger, you can also spot sloth bear, leopard, caracal, jackal, fox, hyena and mongoose at Ranthambore. The elusive Indian wolf too, has been spotted here occasionally. The dainty chital, sambar deer, the blue bull antelope or nilgai, rhesus macaque, langur and an incredible variety of birds amidst a setting of dhok, fig and banyan trees makes a visit to this park a delight – for tourists and naturalists alike. Basking crocodiles, king vulture on a snag, the scream of the serpent eagle, the alarm call of spotted deer are some sights and sounds that make this a safari experience like none other. Afternoon to relax and in the evening Jungle Safari to try our luck to see the tiger or a leopard with other wild animals.

23rd January 2024 – Sawai Madhopur Ranthambore National Park 

Early morning jungle safari to enjoy the sunrise in the jungle with the beautiful scenery and the wild animals. We will visit the Ranthambore fort in the afternoon and free time in the evening for a cultural program and relaxation.

24th 

January 2024– Sawai Madhopur to Pushkar 

(APPROX 5 HOUR 15 MINS DRIVE)After breakfast leave for Pushkar and lunch on the way. After reaching our hotel, the afternoon is free for rest and relaxation. In the evening we visit the holy Pushkar lake to enjoy the sunset at the Lake. Walk in the market and return to the hotel. Overnight stay in Pushkar 
25th 

January 2024– Pushkar

After breakfast, visit the Pushkar lake to do the Puja with the priest (holy ceremony for our forefathers ). Later visit the only Brahma Temple of the world before intermingling with the locals in the colourful markets. Colorful, spiritual little Pushkar, with its many temples, is best explored on foot. Hindu and Sikh pilgrims from all over the country come here to bathe in the ghats and receive blessings at one of the many temples. Evening Brahma Arti, walking through the lanes, ghats and ending with some best taste of Pushkar.

January 2024– Pushkar – Jaipur 

(APPROX 2 HOUR 40 MINS DRIVE)

After breakfast we will leave for Jaipur and on the way we will stop at Kishangarh city to see the marble slurry dumpyard. This marble dump yard or marble slurry is a beauty on its own. The white contours of the dump yard with aqua coloured water gives u a feel of being around a lake in a snowbound region. The backdrop has Aravali hills too to make it look mesmerising. Continue the journey to Jaipur and after check out visit the famous Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace) and evening free to visit the market on your own.

January 2024– Jaipur Visit

A full day city tour of Jaipur starting with a short stop at Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace) for photography, Later proceed to Amber Fort to have an Elephant ride to the Fort which displays a beautiful mix of Mughal and Rajput styles of architecture. Also, visit the Jagat Shiromani Temple on the foothills of the Amber Fort. Later, stop by Jal Mahal (Water Palace) which was a resting place for the kings in the summertime. After lunch, visit the City Palace of the Maharaja of Jaipur which has a fabulous collection of robes, saris in cotton and silk with gold latticework, paintings, a huge collection of arms in the ammunition gallery and also visit the Jantar Mantar Observatory built in 1727.

January 2024– Jaipur-Abhaneri – Fatehpur Sikri – Agra 

(APPROX 4 HOUR DRIVE)

Early Morning after breakfast leave for Agra, On the way, visit Abhaneri Chand Baori which is one of the oldest Stepwell in Rajasthan built by King Chanda (Chandra) in the 8th Century. Later continued towards Fatehpur Sikri, the Phantom city or abandoned city built by the Mughal emperor Akbar in the second half of the 16th century. Arrive in Agra, check into the hotel and relax for some time. Overnight stay at Hotel in Agra.

January 2024 – Agra to Delhi (APPROX 4 HOURS DRIVE)

Visit with sunrise, The 7th Wonder of the World – TAJ MAHAL is awaiting your arrival today morning. A must see with the rising sun as the Taj Mahal is bathed in the golden rays of the morning sun. Built by Shah Jahan, the Taj is a white marble memorial that has the tomb of his beautiful wife Mumtaj Mahal. This monument took 22 years to be completed and was designed, and planned by Persian architect Ustad Isa. After breakfast, see the Agra Fort built by Akbar where Shahjahan’s own son Aurangzeb imprisoned Shahjahan. Later you will be transferred to New Delhi airport to Board your flight back home or to your hotel if you have a stay in Delhi.
