Why Creative Karma?

Creative Karma was borne out of a love for music and live performance, bridging the gap between the artist and the audience. To bring music in it’s myriad and sonorous forms to newer audiences, to enrich the listening experience, to educate and develop collaborations to produce innovation in music is our aim.

As we take our steps to grow as an organisation project by project, event by event, we hope to enliven the world of music performances through value-added programming, artistic collaborations and concept-based events.

Who are we?

Imran Khan: Director

Imran Khan, a sitarist, composer and event designer hails from a Classical musical family that contains the stalwart Padmabhushan Ustad Sultan Khan from Jodhpur, India. He started learning Hindustani classical music from infancy in vocals and the sitar and gave his first public concert at the age of 12 for All India Radio.

He founded Inroom Records which ran for 8 years in order to establish sustainable residencies for fusion, folk and Hindustani classical artists. Here he curated events for corporate clients like Standard Chartered, J.P. Morgan, Vodafone, Mercedes and Diageo.

He has performed in and at times provided programming for the following festivals: World Music festival in Malaysia, Rajasthan International Folk Festival, Saazz, One World Many Musics, Osterfestival Imago Dei-Austria and the Ustad Gulab Khan Achievement Award. Television work includes ‘MTV Coke Studio’ with Shaan, Center Fresh Chewing Gum for Perfetti Van Melle’s.

He has worked with artists like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Asha Bhosle, Ranjit Barot, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Kavita Krishnamurthy, L. Subramaniam, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Ghulam Ali, Sivamani, Rekha Bhardwaj, Louis Chedid, Mozarteum Orchestra, Lithuania Chamber Orchestra, Neeti Mohan, Anusha Mani, Hariharan, Javed Ali Dub Fx, Late U. Srinivas, Karsh Kale, Salim-Sulaiman, Shri to name a few.

Having traveled the world as a sitarist, Imran has gathered extensive experience of the World music festival and performance circuit, and as an event manager and designer in India, can best advise on a range of musical and performance related issues for clients and artists alike.
